We spent a day getting to know our Concierge, Cristian Lambourne better. Here he has given us an insight into a typical working day and has answered our Wyboston hot seat questions.

A typical day

I usually start work at 9am or 10am. My day starts with a smile on my face when I pull up to this beautiful site. After clocking in and greeting my team, I check my reflection, straighten myself up and run a lint roller all over my uniform to ensure I am perfectly presented for the day. When I get to my desk I check my emails and then my diary. I communicate with reception and find out what duties are required of me and complete these as requested.day-in-the-life-of-concierge1

I’ll then check up on Brian (our green golf buggy) ensuring he is safe for use and clean. Once a week Brian needs a wash and a coolant refill. When this is done, I then make sure the luggage room is presentable. I tidy, clean organise and sometimes vacuum the area, then I record any parcels and deliveries that have arrived overnight and ask reception to let guests and staff know they are here.

Usually during the morning, I treat my happy team to a hot beverage ensuring that I too have topped up my caffeine levels for the day.  I make sure they are well hydrated all day with regular visits to our staff break out room.day-in-the-life-of-concierge3

During my whole shift, my primary focus is to look after our guests and visitors. I’m located in reception so am usually the first person to greet people so I always make sure I provide a warm welcome. I also provide an on-site taxi service using Brian, and deliver luggage to rooms so that it is there when guests go to their rooms. If there are any queries about the Wyboston Lakes site or local amenities I am on hand to advise our guests and can look things up on the computer and Ipad as needed.

day-in-the-life-of-concierge2On a busy departure day I help reception by pre-printing bills for guests to check through whilst they wait and I gather feedback and chat to them so they don’t mind any queues.

During my shift I make sure the finest presentation of our public areas by plumping cushions and tidying things. I will liaise with housekeeping to ensure speedy room updates and conduct housekeeping spot checks to complete internal audit forms. This is to make sure that our service is always spot on so that our guests have a great experience.

Before I go, I make sure everything is handed over to the night team. My day usually finishes at 5.30pm or 6.30pm.

We can’t promise the good weather, but we always guarantee a warm reception.
