Julia has worked at Wyboston Lakes for over 9 years and supports the Senior Management team and is the main point of contact for customer feedback.
Julia’s role varied so we spent some time finding out what a typical day looks like for her.
I work at the office Monday to Thursday and my alarm goes off at 4:15am and I arrive at work by 6:15/6:30am.
My day starts by unlocking all the Executive offices, checking that there is milk in the fridge (for everyone else, I hasten to add, as I don’t take milk). I then fire up my PC to check all emails from the evening/overnight. I head down to the luggage store to collect any parcels that have been delivered for me. These usually consist of items of Uniform, or stationery, or ad hoc items that have been procured for the team. I then distribute accordingly.
I then have a catch up with the Hotel Manager and discuss any issues that may have arisen during the evening/overnight. We also discuss any customer feedback and agree on next steps. As part of my role I co-ordinate answers to any guest issues or queries on behalf of the Company, so that we can ensure timely responses/resolutions for the customer.
Depending on the day there are then purchase orders to raise, minutes of meetings to take, telephone calls to field, and general assistance and support for team members in all sorts of roles . I think I am becoming the Wyboston Lakes Marjorie Proops (goodness that shows my age!). I am happy to help anyone that needs it and it is flattering to think that people feel they can come to me to discuss work issues, as well as personal ones and know that I keep their confidences (goes with the territory of my role) and help where and if I can.
My role is extremely varied and covers various areas of the Wyboston Lakes Ltd Company – not just the venues. I also deal with all donation requests received into the company requesting assistance from the families’ own charitable trust. It certainly is a part of my role that is extremely heart wrenching at times, but fulfilling also.
My days finishes around 16:30pm before I start the slightly longer journey home for a well-earned cuppa. Then my second job starts with cooking the evening meal, ironing, etc… before the alarm sounds again in 10hrs time!

What do you do to make sure our guests have a memorable experience at Wyboston Lakes?
I am not in a particularly customer facing role. On the occasions where I do have involvement with our guests, I like to ensure that they understand we care about our customers and want to ensure that their time with us is relaxing, fun and meets their expectations.
