From allocating general maintenance tasks amongst the team to making sure the luxurious Y Spa is in tip top condition for our guests, Maintenance Supervisor, Lee Mogridge takes us through a typical day here at Wyboston Lakes.
A Typical day
I usually start work at around 6:30am, the first thing I do is turn on my emails and check our internal communication system to get some idea of how my day will start.
I then programme the day of work for the guys in each of our venues across site and then I head over to the Y Spa plant room, check the temperatures and the chemicals and make sure nothing has failed overnight.
At 7:15am I have a catch up with Mick Sandell, the Facilities Manager and at 8am I have a quick catch up with the rest of the team then it is all hands on deck.
All the team head over to the spa again to check everything is in working order before the spa opens and ensure that everything is perfect for when our spa guests arrive for the day.
Then the whole team heads back to the workshop to pick up their day plans and head over the the various sites to begin their day. My job is to oversee the team across the different sites as well as picking up my own maintenance tasks.
At 1:45pm is lunch time and the team all sit together to enjoy lunch in the staff break out room.
In the afternoon we have a team catch up and discuss what has happened that morning, look at what needs to be done in the afternoon and provide a bit of a handover for the team member who starts in the afternoon.
Then I go to each venue and catch up with the team and find out the progress of their work, after that I head back to the office to work on tomorrow’s plans and catch up with emails. At 4:30pm I head home, ready to start another day.
Wyboston hot seat questions
How long have you been working at Wyboston Lakes?
Nearly 3 months
If you had to describe Wyboston Lakes in 3 words, what would you say?
Enjoyable, professional and outstanding in what we do
What is the best part of your job?
Not knowing what is round the corner. I try to set a routine but having a plan is pointless as you never know what is coming next. I love the variety.
What do you do to make sure our guests have a memorable experience at Wyboston Lakes?
I have been maintaining hotels since I was 19 years old and the most important thing is to acknowledge our guests. I always say good morning and wish them a good stay.
If you could pick anything on the Waterfront Bar menu, what would you pick?
A nice blue steak with some fresh bread
If you could pick any treatment at the YSpa, which would you pick?
I think it would have to be a back massage
