A Note from the Editor

We are very proud to have achieved a place in the Sunday Times Best 100 Companies to work for List, for the 3rd consecutive year, which demonstrates not only our commitment to excellence in our business, but also to our staff.  Wyboston Lakes is an independent family run business, where people matter and doing the best for our team means doing the best for our clients.

As we enter further into 2016, we can look back on the last two years with great encouragement.  We have seen our business flourish over the last two years, with strong growth in all areas.

We maintain a focus on delivering a measured value add that can be demonstrated to our customer, we are finding more and more clients committing to longer term agreements, which in turn enables us to provide a more bespoke and tailored Conference & Training Programme.  Several of our pilot partnership programmes have delivered real value and great results for our clients.

With the introduction of Y Spa in 2013 we have seen our leisure business exceed targets and with the recent £1m refurbishment of hotel bedrooms, that trend is set to continue further.  We are delighted to offer clients Superior and Deluxe accommodation options and the newly designed rooms have met with excellent feedback.  Wyboston Lakes Hotel is setting its sites on gaining a 4 star accreditation.

Our business is hospitality; we are in the business of delighting our clients.  Wyboston Lakes is in a strong position and we are excited at our future plans for yet more growth and continued creativity as the leading Independent Dedicated Conference & Training Centre in the UK.

We look forward to welcoming you to Wyboston Lakes soon…

Team Profiles

Laura Footner – Senior Business Development Manager

Laura joined Wyboston Lakes 19 years ago as a receptionist and has spent time in different role since joining, such as Events coordinator/Wedding and social Events coordinator/Sales Exec and now Senior Business Development Manager.

Part of Laura’s role is to manage client events from inception to delivery to ensure their requirements are met and we have a good understanding of their business.  Building long term relationships is one of Laura’s key skills, we have some clients that have been with Wyboston Lakes for 20 years, which is testament to the relationships Laura has built and the environment we have created for them here.

“I am fortunate enough to work with some great people from many different companies delivering a vast variety of conferences and events.  No event is the same so every day is interesting.”

Carol Brice – Corporate Sales Manager

Carol has been part of the Wyboston Lakes team since 1998 at our Training Centre. Since joining Carol has worked with a vast variety of clients such as Customs and Excise, who Carol assisted with the implementation of a new technology system.

In addition to working on the sales team Carol also has a vast amount of experience on the operational side so she understands what is needed to ensure that clients meetings and conferences run smoothly. This knowledge was invaluable when we restructured our sales teams and merged the two teams that looked after both the Executive and Training Centres.

“One of the things I really love about this job is that fact that we are all able to work together, more like a family than colleagues.  We of course have our challenges, but when they do happen, we are able to learn and grow together, and this not only benefits us it also benefits our clients.”
